The House of Representatives vote down the proposed $700 Billion bailout package/bill this afternoon. The Dow closed over 700 points down after the vote was announced. President Bush plans a making a “head on” response to this situation.
I feel this is something that both Liberals and Conservatives should be appalled about.
Prosecutors Jennifer Joyce and Bob McCulloch (both Obama supporters) stated they will bring charges against anyone who speaks falsely about Obama. It does appear that various Democratic Leaders within Missouri have been joining the Obama Truth Squad.
Apparently, Joyce and McCulloch have sheriffs that will arrest individuals who speak falsely about Obama. Missouri Governor Matt Blunt (R) posted a statement on the official Missouri Governor’s webpage:
“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.”
I have two issues with this. Libel is not a criminal offense, it is civil. If I state on this blog that my co-host, SKetkar loves wearing women’s dresses with pink fuzzy slippers, I can. I have a First Ammendment right to do so. However, if SKetkar says I libeled him, then he can sue me in a court of law. The Harris County Sheriff can not arrest me for it.
My second issue…
These prosecutors have specifically stated this is to protect Obama. What about John McCain? I guess it is alright for me in Missouri to call McCain an old, senile bat which seems to follow their rules.

Every few years, our trusted politicians take an oath of office to uphold and defend the Constitution of The United States Of America. We as citizens believe that the person we voted into office will live up to that oath and do what is in our best interest. But what if they weren’t? What if they were slowly writing laws that withered away our rights? Who among us has time to really sit down and analyze all the bills, resolutions, and laws passed by our elected officials?
Here (thenewamerican.com) is a link that provides a scorecard of elected officials voting records and whether or not they are really protecting the Constitution. Have a look - you might be surprised.
