Taking Pictures of Police in UK Illegal
If you take a picture of a police officer in the UK after February 16th, you could be arrested. According to the British Journal of Photography, the Government claims that the law is a terrorism protection measure.
This makes no sense!
The UK is known to have a high volume of public cameras. So it is “ok” for the British Government filming your activities, but you can’t film them?
I guess you could make an argument that a terrorist would want to photograph police officers as a means to mark their patrol routes. However, this is not enough to justify the trade off of citizens having the right to document the activities of our public officials.
Over the last few years, we have seen an increase of police abusing their positions making on the internet like such sites as YouTube.
Sorry, I have a hard time believing that this is not the real reason.
