Today is the day, good or bad?

In a little less in an hour, Barack Obama will be sworn in as our 44th President.  No President Elect has been as popular and given so much hope for the American people.

Obama has to deal with a troubling economy and our political standing in the world dwindling.  Even most countries world wide celebratred the Obama victory last November.  There also probably has been no other world leader has ever entered the job with such expectation.

Can anyone live up to those expectations?

Last November, I did not support Obama.  (I didn’t vote for the Republican either!)   I do question some of the cabinet choices he has made.  I also question some of the policy decisions he has already made.

I just have hope that we are getting a good President.

I don’t think we will know the answer to that for awhile yet.

I have been on all sides in the past. I have seen the person I voted for take the oath of office. I have also watched the person I voted against take that same oath. In all cases, I watched someone become my president. Whether you voted for or against Obama doesn’t matter anymore. The question of who is going to become the 44th President has been settled. Now we need to give him our support as he leads this country. That does not mean we give into blind adoration (the media seems to be doing this quite well). It means that we recognize the election is over, and we start judging our new President by what he does now. For all our sakes, I hope he does well.

    Dobie,

Thanks for the post. I do agree with you. Now is the moment we have to judge him based on his actions as President. I also appreciate your comment by offering support without blind adoration. I have no issues with that… However, I do feel some people have been inflicted with “Obamamadness” and would follow him off a cliff.

I do not want people to beat on him just on his first full day of office, nor do I want people to just agree to every thing he does either.

Again, Dobie, thanks for the post..
